3 Reasons to Invest in a Young Professional

As a soon to graduate senior at Drake University, I have been on the search for my first full time position. As a young professional looking for an entry level position, it can often times be difficult to find something that doesn’t require 3-5 years right away. Although this is an exciting time, it can also be stressful as we look to find the right fit for starting a career. Here are just a few reasons for companies to consider when hiring and even more specifically thinking about hiring a young professional who is new to the work world.

Enthusiasm

Young professionals who have just recently graduated college are fresh and excited about taking that next step. They are more than eager to learn and driven to be successful. Being a youthful individual can also mean that they have the energy needed to take on any new task offered their way.

Moldable

Being new to the work world can mean that the young professional may not have all the experience, but they also probably haven’t developed any bad habits yet either. This means that you can build them into the kind of employee you wish to have. By teaching and guiding, a manager will be able to show the kind of worker they expect within the office.

New Ideas

Hiring someone who may not be in the same generation as you is a great option when it comes to potential candidates. These individuals have probably grown up differently than you may have and bring new ideas to an organization. A fresh set of ideas can bring about great conversations for potential projects within a company.

These are a just a few reasons to consider hiring a newly graduated young professional. Not to mention, they will cost your business less than someone with years of workplace experience. Keep this in mind the next time you find yourself looking to fill an open position.
